Robert Courtorielle ~ LaRocque

1975 ~ 2011

Robert Larocque was born June 2, 1975 in Chetwynd, BC to parents Susan Courtorielle and Rodney Larocque.

Robert loved the bush and cutting line, this is where I had the fortune of meeting Robert in 2005 atTumbler Ridge. Robert and I formed a close friendship there and carried on working together for several years after. Robert loved working in the mountains and conquering mountains.
Ona job near Tumbler Ridge, Robert found a grizzly skull in remarkable shape. I have to admit I was envious as I had walked the same line where Robert had later found the prize. During the winter months of work Roberts favourite times were setting up little camps in the bush to cook lunch and dry our soaked clothes. Most recently Robert had been drilling for coal exploration in the Rocky Mountains near Tumbler Ridge and carpentry in Saskatoon.

Robert had an excellent sense of humour and could find something funny to say about any situation, he was always ready to joke and have a good comeback. Robert would laugh
at himself as well and this humility is what made him a genuine person.Robert loved his family dearly especially Jennifer and his daughter, Mackenzie. Robert was always concerned for his family members no matter where he was or where they were.

Robert was an intelligent man who could carry on a conversation with anyone about any subject, his favourite topics were Cree culture, traditions and legends. We have all been blessed to share Robert in our lives, his caring nature live on in our lives as we carry on in our own journeys. Remember Robert laughing and being happy, for his spirit will forever live in your own hearts and memories. Robert will always be remembered for his genuine and caring nature even when life was not going the way he would have liked it.

Robert passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in Chetwynd, BC at the age of 36 years. A Wake was held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 7:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall. A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall. Pastor Richard Hoard officiated. Interment followed in the Tuscoola Mountain Cemetery.

Robert was predeceased by; Kookum’s and Mushoom’s and many extended family members.
He will be fondly remembered by his common-law wife; Jennifer Desjarlais, Daughter; Mackenzie LaRocque - Desjarlais, Mother; Susan Courtorielle, Father; Rodney LaRocque, Brothers; Wesley LaRocque, Harley-Joe (Rebecca) LaRocque, Sisters; Joann LaRocque, Tina (John) Belcourt, Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and friends.
